Moonlight of Morgan Hill and Max of Morgan Hill are both set in the gentle pastures of Morgan Hill which overlooks the historic village of rural Weston, Vermont. In real life Max and Moonlight both did reside on Morgan Hill where the author met them. Max, Moonlight, and the classic Vermont setting of the farm were part of the inspiration for the author’s imagination. In every season the beauty of this place is astounding. Peter Sharp and his family continue to lovingly care for this gorgeous farm. The author is truly blessed to have worked, painted and ridden her horse on Morgan Hill where she continues to find endless creativity and joy. From their home pastures, Moonlight and Max can see the West River running through the town below them, the fields of the surrounding farms, and the woodlands that slope gently up the mountain side.
Slightly different from her first two books, Patricia Tracy Dow Beveridge decided that The Well Spring Tree would be set in a fictitious rural Vermont village on a Christmas tree farm. The changing seasons illustrated in the book reflect the challenges the characters face in their lives, drawing on God’s understanding love as a well spring of hope.
